SuperDYMA — SAN Engineering Malaysia

What is SuperDYMA:

SAN Engineering introduces SuperDYMA which is a high corrosion–resistant coated steel with a special alloy composition. SuperDYMA with its unique coating layer of Zinc, 5% Aluminum, and 3% Magnesium coating provides a breakthrough solution in surface corrosion and metal cutting-edge protection, making it possible to be applied even in the most severe environments (C5) such as livestock, chemicals, and marine areas. SuperDYMA can switch many traditional steel and metal materials in various applications in our life at a greatly competitive cost. At SAN, we use SuperDYMA in the manufacturing of cable support systems like cable ladders, cable trays, cable trunking, Unistruct Channels and for many other metal fabrication jobs that need to withstand harsh environments. Advantages of SuperDYMA

  • 3 to 5 times better corrosion resistance than standard galvanized products at equivalent coating levels.
  • Higher abrasion and friction resistance on the surface layer.
  • Better cut-edge corrosion control through self-protective behavior.
  • Very low white-rust tendency under comparable conditions.
  • Strong performance in both acidic and alkaline chemical environments.
  • Reduced maintenance, replacement frequency and lifecycle costs.

Specifications: Capacity

  • Standards: AS1397, ASTM A 1046/A 1046M, JIS 3323
  • Thickness: 0.4mm to 3.2mm
  • Coating Mass: ZM60 to ZM450

Note: The SuperDYMA logo and brand name are exclusive property of Ton Nam Kim Group.

Anti-Corrosion Mechanism

Magnesium in the coating accelerates formation of a dense protective crystalline film (Simonkolleite), which helps seal surfaces and reduce penetration by corrosive agents.

Test Results Summary

Source references include SST benchmarks, cut-edge behavior, flat surface tests, forming-position tests, white-rust resistance, and chemical environment comparisons.

  • Salt Spray Test references: ISO 9227, JIS Z22371, ASTM B117 (5% NaCl, 35C).
  • Cut-edge performance remains significantly stronger than conventional GI at equivalent coating levels.
  • Flat surface corrosion resistance is substantially higher than GI and improved versus GL.
  • In alkaline and ammonia conditions, resistance outperforms standard GI and GL in the cited results.

Environmental Classification & Usage Recommendations

Coverage spans C1 through C5 (industrial and marine) with recommendations for severe corrosion exposure and long warranty targets.

  • C1-C3: lower-to-moderate corrosive environments in rural/urban/light industrial zones.
  • C4: medium industrial and near-coastal zones with increased corrosive agents.
  • C5: high-corrosion industrial/marine zones with salt fog and aggressive exposure.
  • SuperDYMA is positioned for C5-grade performance where traditional coatings degrade quickly.

Why Choose SuperDYMA

When Purchasing

Lower coating mass requirements and lower shipping costs.

When Processing

Reduced handling concern for scratches and edge exposure during fabrication and transport.

After Installation

Lower maintenance cost and longer project lifetime.

SuperDYMA Trunking & Applications

SuperDYMA trunking is designed for data centers, industrial facilities and coastal projects requiring corrosion resistance, surface durability and installation-friendly handling.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about SAN Engineering SuperDYMA coated steel in Malaysia.

About SuperDYMA

What is SuperDYMA?

SuperDYMA is a high corrosion-resistant coated steel with a special alloy coating of zinc, 5% aluminium, and 3% magnesium. SAN Engineering supplies and processes SuperDYMA as a durable alternative to traditional steel for applications in severe environments such as marine, chemical, and livestock areas.

How is SuperDYMA different from galvanized steel (GI)?

SuperDYMA offers 3 to 5 times the corrosion resistance of galvanized products with the same coating thickness. It also limits cut-edge corrosion, shows almost no white rust, and resists abrasion better — areas where standard GI typically underperforms. SAN Engineering can advise where SuperDYMA is the better choice.

What makes SuperDYMA so corrosion resistant?

The magnesium in the SuperDYMA coating accelerates the formation of a dense, stable protective film called Simonkolleite, which spreads across the steel surface and seals it from corrosive substances. This self-filling mechanism also protects cut edges, which standard coatings cannot do as effectively.

What specifications and thicknesses of SuperDYMA does SAN Engineering offer?

SAN Engineering supplies SuperDYMA manufactured to standards including AS1397, ASTM A 1046/A 1046M, and JIS 3323, in thicknesses from 0.4mm to 3.2mm with coating mass options from ZM60 to ZM450. The SAN Engineering team can advise on the right specification for your application.

Applications & Performance

What environments is SuperDYMA suitable for?

SuperDYMA performs across environmental classes up to C5, the harshest industrial and marine categories. Verified testing shows it can be used in C5 environments around 500m from the sea with an anti-perforation warranty of up to 25 years, making it suitable for coastal, chemical, and agricultural settings.

What products and applications does SAN Engineering use SuperDYMA for?

SAN Engineering offers SuperDYMA in applications including cable trunking, drain troughs, deck floors, ceiling frames, HVAC components, fences, truss frames, greenhouses, and square or round pipes — spanning industrial construction, housing materials, and agricultural use.

What is SuperDYMA trunking and where is it used?

SuperDYMA trunking from SAN Engineering is cable trunking engineered with next-generation Zn-Al-Mg coated steel, offering superior corrosion resistance and a smooth, installation-friendly surface. Tested to withstand 2000 hours of salt spray with minimal rust, it suits data centres, industrial facilities, and coastal environments.

Can SuperDYMA help reduce project costs?

Yes. SuperDYMA can lower costs at several stages — a reasonable purchase price from reduced coating mass, easier handling with no need for edge protection during processing and transport, and reduced maintenance and replacement costs after installation, which extends overall project lifetime.
